Job Description
Our client seeks a senior technical architect to join a strong technology team responsible for the implementation of high volume, high performance web services in a complex Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the definition of the technical and operational architecture and implementation of these services. The candidate will work with business representatives to identify desired functionality and with other technical architects, leads, and developers to translate those business requirements and use cases to technical requirements and solution designs. The candidate will be responsible for functional and technical analysis as well as technical requirements and design models. The candidate will need to become a subject matter expert in the assigned functional area and support technical and QA teams through implementation and testing. The candidate will provide strong technical leadership and guidance to other technical team members and strong technical skills and communication skills are required.
Essential Functions
Work closely with business representatives to identify desired functionality, business requirements, and business use cases
Perform functional and technical analysis to flush out technical requirements and designs and document in UML models and technical design documentation
Collaborate with other technical architects and leads to gather requirements, define roadmaps, and define technical architectures and solution designs from business and/or technical requirements, applying best practices and design patterns
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the designed systems and guide consumers on best practices and guidelines on systems integration and use. Support technical and QA teams for those systems through the various phases of the SDLC.
Facilitate detailed design from requirements and support construction, certification, and launch
Assist in reviewing requirements, use cases and associated test cases
Design J2EE components in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment
Participate in design and code reviews
Design and develop proof of concepts (POCs) as needed, integrating new components with back office systems during the design and requirements phase to evaluate products and integration strategies
Work with technical infrastructure and operations teams to support environment build-outs for technical solutions.
Communicate effectively with team members and clients to gain the required knowledge to perform these tasks
Qualifications
Knowledge of SOA approaches and design patterns, as well as prior experience developing web services in a SOA based technical environment is required.
Demonstrated success in architecting large scale enterprise software systems and creating and documenting technical designs in UML
Demonstrated success performing technical analysis and creating architecture designs in a SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) environment
Demonstrated success performing business and systems analysis to identify business, functional, and technical requirements and processes
Strong technical skills and hands on experience with SOA, Web Services, J2EE, Java, XML, SOAP, JDBC, EJB, JMS, JSP, Spring framework, Hibernate, JUnit, Ehcache, and other software web-based technologies.
Capable of building J2EE web services (SOAP) and other components, as well as integrations to legacy applications and data stores.
Experience using BEA Weblogic/Aqualogic experience is highly preferred.
Prior experience designing and implementing database cache solutions is a plus
Strong background in Oracle replication technologies such as Goldengate and Data Guard, as well as caching technologies such as Oracle Coherence and Memcached. This should also include knowledge of technologies such as Oracle 11i suite, Exadata V2, FlashFire cache, and other software designed for high volume, low latency access to data.
Experience with mainframe, client/server & distributed computing architecture
Capable of recommending various technical solutions and documenting and explaining trade-offs and impact analysis
Strong analytical skills with the ability to learn new information quickly
Strong data modeling and database experience.
Familiarity with IBMs DOORS requirements management and Rational Software Architect (RSA) UML modeling tools
Experience in agile and iterative development environments
Domain knowledge and experience in the telecommunications and/or cable industries, as well as in BSS/OSS, is a plus.
Strong capabilities performing independently and as part of a cross-functional, team in a fast paced environment.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical audiences.





Minimum Qualifications
Excellent client-facing skills
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
Seven or more years experience in the IT field demonstrating progressive levels of technical competence and responsibility
Ability to travel up to 35%
Authorized to work for any U.S. employer
